Four Things

Four jobs I’ve had
1. Penny Saver Delivery Boy. I delivered Penny Savers for a couple of years. I was probably 11 or 12. I used to dump my deliveries in a recycling bin. This was wrong. I got caught when someone who actually read the Penny Saver phoned in to complain. I confessed my wrong-doings to my supervisor and she let me keep the route.

2. Dickie Dee Ice Cream Vendor. Yes, I used to ride one of those ice cream bikes around; ringing those bells everywhere I went to get the kids to beg their parents for money to buy ice cream and popsicles. My first day on the job, I got sunstroke. I quit two weeks later. That was the worst job I ever had.

3. Lick’s Restaurant Grillboy. This was my favorite job during high school. I had a lot fun there. Lick’s is a family restaurant in Ontario that makes some of best burgers around. When you work there, you’re given a song book and you need to learn the lyrics about hot dogs, hamburgers and fries put to the melodies of old 50’s and early 60’s pop songs.

4. Rockstar. Yes - I was a rockstar for several years during high school. I grew my hair long; rocked out to Metallica and Black Sabbath; and played guitar in a rock ‘n roll band. My band was The Mindfield and we constantly blew people’s minds with our tasty blend of progressive space metal. Our fist album, “To the Moon and Back” sold a whopping 25 units. Sadly, The Mindfield disbanded shortly after that. I still need to create a wikipedia entry for us.

For the time and the age that we were we were a damn good band! It would’ve been interesting to see what we would’ve sounded like now if we were still playing together.

Hmmmmm…… can’t say for sure…. but I believe there may still be a dusty little cache of Mindfield cassettes in the deep dark catacombs of the Weisbrod homestead!

I would LOVE to see that! Something to show the grandkids! :-D I seem to also recall there being a couple live videos done of us at Stardust and some Battle of the Bands thing.
